Tasty Tuesday Berry Crisp!
I got this recipe from a friend years ago, and it's a great favorite with my guys. You can make it with any kind of berry you like, or you can use apples. I've done it with blueberries, blackberries, and wild raspberries, and it's always good!
Berry (or Apple) Crisp
1 cup flour
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/8 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon (divided)
2 cups berries
1 Tbsp cornstarch
1/4 cup brown sugar
Place fruit in a large square or round baking dish, sprinkle with brown sugar, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and cornstarch and toss. Blend butter, sugar, flour, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, and salt with pastry cutter. Spread over fruit and sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake at 375 for 1 hour.

Oh! A different Derec...interesting spelling, I like it! Well, if that's what that dessert can do to a man, I'm making it tomorrow for sure! Wow! I'm imagining melting ice cream in the southern region.....lyummy!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds really good! Well he sounds yummy too but still :D I'm going to try that recipe.
ReplyDeleteYummy, Yummy, Yummy, YUMMYDOODLE too!!!
ReplyDeleteYummy seems to be the word for today!
ReplyDeleteDerec is the cabana boy from last Monday, Lisa. This is the frontal view!
I think the combination of the two would be just about perfect. See what you've done to me, Cheryl? You've forever associated ice cream in my mind with...other things. BTW, I'm reading Outcast as my very first Cat Star Chronicle and am completely addicted!!
ReplyDeleteWe HOOKED another one!!!! Once she's gone Zetithian she'll have a Hard Time going back to Normal equipped Men. We can't. But, we keep searching. LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteYay, Kendra!
ReplyDeleteI'm working on your third book. Don't get time to read much, though. It takes me forever to finish one. I always liked Bastian and was looking forward to his story--great so far!
Glad you're enjoying Outcast!
Yummy Derec Reminded me that I'm hungry for "Polska Kielbasa"
ReplyDeleteIt must be lunch time.
OMG Lynx and Bonnie are finally getting it on (he hasn't gotten it up yet, but I'm waiting for it) and may I just say HOLY SHIT, Cheryl! I'm amazed the book hasn't burst into flames! I WANT A ZETITHIAN!! Um, and I'll interrupt my hormonal tantrum to add that I'm really glad you're enjoying Bastian's book:-) I bow at the feet of the Cat Master, though. This book rules.
ReplyDeleteOh Kendra-and aren't you the lucky one...there are 3 more to read!
ReplyDeleteSo Donna, how was the big sausage you ate for lunch?
Thank you, Kendra. I do my best to deliver the hotness!
ReplyDeleteYeah, Donna. Polish sausage and blueberry crisp. How could it get any better? Unless maybe Derec is feeding it to you?
I think of the gang here that Ana is the only one to read them in order. Am I correct in saying that?
You can have the dessert--I'll take Derec!
ReplyDeleteYeah, Estella, He'd be much better for my blood sugar than the crisp, that's for sure!
ReplyDeleteKendra,
ReplyDeleteThose Erotic Writers have nothing on our Cat Master.
OMG!!!Estella! You Frisky Broad. I don't get the Meat?
Lisa, I had to be satisfied with a Hot Dog for lunch.
YES, Cheryl, I read Warrior first, Than "Slave" and "Rogue" and then finally came "Outcast"
And I have a Bad Craving for another CAT. How long until Fugitive is released? Can they speed it up?
Yup, you're right...I did read Slave first, but couldn't find Warrior so read Rogue, then found Warrior and then Outcast. And I had to hunt for Warrior. I think I actually squealed when I saw it on the shelf and realized my hunt was over!
ReplyDeleteOne thing I did hear about at the conference was that B&N is supposed to be keeping the entire series in stock, so if anyone is looking for a particular book, it should show up there eventually.
ReplyDeleteThey're reprinting all of them but Warrior, too. I don't think the stores bought as many copies of Warrior to begin with. It came out when that mass return thing happened last fall when the economy hit the skids. Hopefully it will recover.
Sorry, Donna. Can't hurry them much. January 2010 isn't so far away, and they tend to release them a little early. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me if they had it on the shelves in time for Christmas!
Wish I'd been there to hear you squeal, Lisa. Would've warmed the cockles of my heart!
No WAY, it's January?? I'm going to have to space these out, then, because I read a book in a day. Of course, maybe it's best I'll be writing another of my own the next few months...it'll be easier to wait if I'm otherwise occupied. Glad to know about B&N! Now I just have to get to one!
ReplyDeleteLynx has recovered nicely. Okay, "nicely" isn't even the half of it, but he's recovered. I am seriously ruined for all men who can't purr.
So I have a question: ladies, who is YOUR favorite "cat"? Cheryl included, I'm curious!
Yes I read them in order but that's what happens when you work in a bookstore XD
ReplyDeleteI read the Cat Star Chronicles in the same order as Donna, WARRIOR first, then SLAVE, ROGUE, and OUTCAST in that order. I loved them all and can't wait to read FUGITIVE and the others to follow. My favorites are SLAVE & ROGUE.
ReplyDeleteYes, Kendra, those Zetithian males have what it takes. And what they have is so damn addictive. But no one is complaining.
My favorite cat? It's usually the one I'm writing about at the time someone asks, but Cat from Slave was the one who started it all, and I still love him to pieces!
ReplyDeleteOMG, Kendra! You read a book a day??? I'm lucky to finish one in a month, though I did read Marie's first book in a sitting. Don't do that very often. In fact, the only other time was when I read the last Harry Potter book. Finished it at like 2am or something ridiculous like that. I try to read at work, but it makes me sleepy, so I don't read for very long. Then when I'm at home and read before bed, I don't want something that'll keep me awake all night, so I keep reading Harry Potter over and over. I know what happens next and can fall asleep quicker. Beats sleeping pills!
Hmmm, so hard to pick a favorite! I really liked the twin thing in Rogue and I loved poor, tortured Lynx-so Rogue and Outcast for me!
ReplyDeleteoh heck, I loved them all!
Just a little reminder; Sharon's guest blog is coming up in a little bit. Is everyone ready? If not, you may need to brace yourselves. It might be more than you can take....
ReplyDeleteI can't wait! The anticipation is killing me!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I'm still up.
ReplyDeleteBut Leo is my favorite Cat. Not my favorite story. It's Leo's purrs that first turned me on and inside out and upside down.
Then it's Trag and Lynx then Tychar and Cat.
Jack is my favorite Heroine and then Bonnie.
That sounds like a great way to get to sleep, actually, Cheryl! And I know what you mean about that first hero...they're special in part just because they were first:-) Though you showed enough of Cat and Leo in Outcast that I love them too! Can't wait to dig into the others. I have Rogue right here (these are the two I got from National) so I'm probably going to stay all out of order, but I'm already thinking yummy thoughts about Trag and that orange streak in his hair...
ReplyDeleteOh, and I read ridiculously fast, yeah. I always have. I was an advanced reading dork all the way back in kindergarten, LOL. Sometimes it's great, but the problem is that I tend to tear right through stories I like!
Thanks for telling your fave cats, ladies...I can't wait to read them all! And I can see loving Cat and Bonnie, Donna, I got such a kick out of both of them!
I meant Jack and Bonnie...ugh, it's early yet!
ReplyDeleteSo I made this for my husband with strawberries and blackberries. It was so good. He just finished it off the other day, but before he ate the last bites he said "Is that horny pie still any good?" Which I had no clue what he was talking about at first. Then I figured it out he was referring to the berry crisp! Funny guy
