Tasty Tuesday Bottle of Pop Pie!

Donna sent me this one, which is probably something I should NEVER eat, but it sounds plum scrumptious!

Chef John's Bottle of Pop Pie

Crust:
1 ¾ cups graham cracker crumbs
2 tablespoons light brown sugar, firmly packed
Pinch of regular or sea salt
7 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Crisco butter flavored cooking spray

Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Spray pie plate with cooking spray and set aside. Combine the graham cracker crumbs, brown sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Using your fingers, mix together. Add the butter and incorporate well, mixing first with a fork, then with your hands, rubbing thoroughly to form evenly dampened crumbs. Spread the crumbs evenly and loosely in the pan, pressing them into the bottom and up the side. Refrigerate for 10 minutes. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool on a rack. Refrigerate 15 minutes before filling. Makes one 9-inch graham cracker crust.
Filling:
2 ¾ cups Coca Cola soda
1/3 cup granulated sugar
2 envelopes unflavored gelatin
1 tablespoon gourmet cola extract
2 large egg whites, at room temperature
1 cup cold heavy whipping cream
1 cup confectioner’s sugar, sifted

In a mixing bowl, combine soda and sugar. Let rest for 10 minutes. Put ¼ cup of soda in a medium-sized bowl and sprinkle the gelatin over it. Set aside for 5 minutes to dissolve. Meanwhile, heat ½ cup of the soda in a small heavy bottom saucepan over medium heat to a near boil. Whisk the hot soda into the dissolved gelatin. Pour the remaining 2 cups soda into a large bowl and stir in the gelatin-watermelon juice mixture. Stir in extract. Place in the refrigerator. Using an electric mixer, beat the egg whites in a medium-size mixing bowl until stiff peaks form. Set aside.

Clean and dry the beaters. Using a chilled medium-size bowl and chilled beaters, beat the heavy cream with the mixer until it hold soft peaks. Add the confectioner’s sugar and beat until stiff peaks form. Refrigerate. When the cola mixture starts to firm up, add about one-quarter of the whipped cream and beat with the electric mixer until smooth. Add the beaten egg whites and remaining whipped cream and gently fold them in with a large spatula. Use a whisk, only if necessary and gently, to smooth the mixture. Pour the filling into the cooled graham cracker crust. Place in a tightly covered pie keeper or with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferable overnight. Serve with Sweetened Whipped Topping and slices fruit or cherries. Serves 8-10

Is anybody else having this problem??? I truly wish I could see these cowboys, as they look super tasty!!

  4. Hey, you found my chap frame. See I told you it would look good. Damn, it's getting warm in here. All the cowboys look good, so does the receipe, and I'm like you Cheryl, it sounds like something I need to stay away from!

You are not going to believe this...my WV...gronie

  6. I had to repost it, Suzy. It was like that when it went up; not sure why, but it should be better now.

Enjoy the cowboys, ladies! I'll be back later on. RT, here I come!

  7. I agree with you MsM. I was just going to say that the fact his dick hangs more than half way down to his knees is a pretty good indication he would make a nice whopping weasel candidate if he really got aroused, don't you think?

  8. Well well well! I'll take the guy in the first shot! Very HOT!

I think the last guy got lost on the way to Wednesday's post. Wow! If that's relaxed, I'm a little scared of aroused.

OK, now I'm gonna look at the recipe!

  9. Well, I'm glad you ladies liked my recipes for Yummy Fun and BIG trouble. And this is just the First of many Saddle Horns to come. And Boy I bet this last guy is impressive if he wasn't so saddle weary.
    Ride em Cowboy!!! YeeHaw
    Have a safe Trip Cheryl.
Don't forget that Camera and Chapstick and Condoms. Hey better be safe. What happens in OHIO stays in Ohio. LOL!!!

  11. Whew! Finally back on my own computer. I like vacations. I just don't like not having internet. Sunday night was a rough night for my friends that we visited but today seems to be better. Cheryl, have a great wonderful time at RT. Take lots of pictures :D

  12. Welcome Back Ana. Did you catch the Hunky Buns yesterday? Todays Boys are just recipes for trouble and fun. And that last Cowboy just is as Big as the Horse he rides.

  13. Whoa Dude...Diva Donna, my hat's off to you woman! I did some major searching for a cowboy just in chaps and came up empty. You must have some secret sites with a password but hey, I thank you for sharing:) I might have to download him into my Man Gallery...chaps are to die for.

Okay, where was I...oh yes, we got a whopping weasel a day early...in only chaps...that's just righteous!

Cowboy #1 holding his chaps ain't all bad either even if I wish he'd model them for us.

Cowboy #2 is adorable and SO YOUNG that I'll have to admire him from far away;)

Cowboy #3 is tempting in those low slung jeans but given that he's surrounded by dudes, I don't think he would be interested.

I've already said more than enough about Cowboy #4 and the way he's made my day:)

Chef John's Bottle of Pop Pie sounds outrageous and would put me in a coma...not to mention add pounds just by reading the recipe;) It's bad enough that I give in to having a Dove Chocolate Ice Cream Bar every few months or so.

Merry Mary...LMAO at the no "need to highlighted." Ain't it the truth.

Suzy...No problems viewing here. Hope you'll try again and be rewarded.

    MsM...An understatement for sure:)

I wasn't on the computer yesterday (I have those days once in awhile so now I'm off to check Monday Moons:)

  14. Had to take many more looks at Mr. Cowboy in Chaps and clearly I can see that what's framed and highlighted is going to need a saddle. I guarantee he'll only misbehave in a good way since I WILL threaten to wear my spurs:)

    Cowboy Week rocks hard!

  16. Donna, is cowboy #3 Mick St. John? K, I can't remember his real name right now. It really looks like him.

  17. I had to bite my tongue today to keep from laughing while reading these comments at work. You girls are so funny. So many good one-liners. I just had another peek (okay - stare) at pic #4. There's no way he could wear jeans & chaps. That whopper would not fit. I bet he wears maternity jeans.

  18. Okay ladies! I'm online again. Just got back from having dinner and a Margarita with my roomie, Caroline. She's watching American Idol and I'm blogging, as usual!
The hotel is frickin' huge! Haven't seen Charles yet, Donna, I'm keeping an eye out.
I did run into INRWA chaptermate Emma Wildes, so I've seen at least one familiar face!
Haven't taken any pictures yet, but I promise to keep my camera on hand at all times.
I've met my first hunk--the guy who unloaded my car and took my keys and parked my car. It'll probably end up costing me a fortune, but who cares? He was cute!

  19. Lisa, I think you're thinking of Alec O'Laughlin (???) the Australian actor who played Mick St. John on Moonlight---but it's not him. He does resemble him a bit, though.

I had to really focus to look at his face---the massive humungodoodle kept grabbing my eyes and refusing to let go!!!

  20. I'm glad you made it Cheryl. Charles is there. And he's real Big. So I'm sure you'll run into him.
Speaking of Big. I see Mr. I couldn't fit into my Jeans because my Weasel Has the Mumps is a big hit today. Like I said. He's just the first of many amazing men. And Nancy it was just a simple search for Naked Cowboy with Chaps. No password required.
