Tasty Tuesday Marinated Pork Chops!

Donna sent in this recipe recently, and I can honestly say it's a good one! I used olive oil instead of canola and lemon juice instead of lime, but the chops were still darn good!

Marinated Pork Chops
1/2 Canola Oil (Donna used Grape seed oil)
1/4 c lime juice
4 tsp. balsamic vinegar
2 tsp sugar
2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. sea salt
1 tsp paprika
1 garlic clove, minced
6 boneless pork chops(4 oz each)
In a large resealable bag, combine the first 8 ingredients and then add pork chops. Seal Bag and turn to coat: refrigerate 8 hrs or overnight. (I didn't leave it set this long, and it was still good)
Drain and discard the marinade. Grill pork chops covered over medium heat for 4-5 min. on each side. or until meat thermometer reads 160 degrees. Serves 6 servings .
Donna made grilled seasoned root vegetables on the side. Enjoy!

  10. Hmm, the picture is kind of sexy and also kind of looks like it could end reeeeeally badly if you weren't careful:-) Recipe sounds yummy! Wish I'd seen this before I went to the commissary...wandered around like a zombie for an hour and I still have no idea what I want to eat for dinner this week.

  11. Me too, Lisa...I go away for a couple of days and YOWSA...we get a hog-tied weasel...not in a bad way either. *grin* I can see that this week is going to be VERY INTERESTING and I'm looking forward to it.

The recipe sounds like a must-try for me. I love pork chops.

You may recall that I mentioned that my middle sister asked what I'd like for dinner when I came back to pick her up. I told her a salad and chocolate pie... specifically, Cheryl's chocolate pie (IF she felt like it, of course) and I sent her Cheryl's recipe. I honestly didn't expect her to bake it. And, what she emailed back was, "Are you kidding me?"

So no, I didn't expect a from scratch chocolate pie...really. Recovering sister told me on the phone before arriving that there hadn't been any baking going on but that there was a bakery box in the fridge that was marked "chocolate pie."

Okay, so for lunch we had a delicious salad with grilled chicken pieces and now the pie box was on the counter. It looked like it had already been opened. As my mouth was salivating I lifted up the lid to view the REMAINS of a P-E-A-C-H PIE. Do you hear me?! PEACH...not CHOCOLATE.

I told whore dog recovering sister that she was an evil, evil bitch and was lucky I didn't knock the wheels off her walker.

Check it out - she had gotten on her computer and printed out a label with a picture of a pie on it that said, "Chocolate Pie" and put it on the box. It looked as real as any bakery sticker I've seen.

Okay, so the peach pie was very good...just not so much when one's mouth is set for chocolate pie. All was not entirely lost because after dinner we had some kind of bakery chocolate chiffon confection type pie, which was excellent.

Plus I was given a personal size bakery mini-coconut cake that I brought back home. The best coconut cake I have ever put in my mouth. I did share...we each had a large slice. Not only that but earlier for lunch we ate out and had our favorite...Coastal Flats crab cake. Outrageously expensive but absolutely so worth it and we did everything but lick the plate:) It is all crab meat with barely there light breading on the outside and almost zero filler. (I was afraid the oil spill may have affected availability but not so far.)

My middle (nurse) sister is a freaking Goddess and more for the patience and good nature shown this past month. Seriously, my temperament is not like hers. She deserves every good thing that could ever come her way.

I'm not saying that recovering sister doesn't appreciate what was done for her because she does. I'm just saying I couldn't be the one doing it for a month unless circumstances were far more critical. Even though Sharon tired easily, she was functioning to a high degree when she got home from the hospital. She's starting out patient therapy next week.

It's good to be back...Hugs from Queen Yah-Yah...especially to Jessica.
